Project Management

Here are some of the  recommended Project management tools I have used over the years to manage my project. Using Microsoft Project would be ideal for hardcore project management, but this additional tools definitely are productivity boosters and go a long way in helping you manage your project.

Mind Manager: A great tool I have used for mind mapping, brain storming, information collection and documentation, project management, proposal preparation and many more things…this is right on top of my list, can’t leave without it even for a day.

JCV Gantt A absolute must add-on to have for , again on top of my list and I use it to control project timelines as well as project budjet(s).

Export to Excel : Another must to have add-on for Mind Manager, helps you export your project task to Microsoft Excel, from where you can estimate them individually to get an automated costing for your project.

Project In A Box (PIAB) : A must to use tool if you are managing project based on Prince-2 methodology, I have used it for couple of small project and it has turned out to be a great productivity and PM tool on the projects.

PERT chart expert: Another ideal tool for preparing PERT charts. Plan and display your projects using PERT charts (also known as Network Charts or Precedence Diagrams). PERT Chart EXPERT shows tasks and the dependencies between tasks in an easy to understand chart. PERT Chart EXPERT can be used by itself or as an add-on to Microsoft Project. Loaded with features to configure and print many different styles of PERT charts, PERT Chart EXPERT  contains extensive PERT charting capabilities unlike those found in Microsoft Project (PERT Chart EXPERT‘s interface to Microsoft Project is completely seamless and bi-directional).

WBS Chart Pro – Plan and display your projects using a tree-style diagram known as a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Chart. WBS charts display the structure of a project showing how the project is broken down into summary and detail levels. Plan new projects using an intuitive "top-down" approach or display existing Microsoft Project plans in an easy to understand diagram. WBS Chart Pro    can be used by itself or as an add-on to Microsoft Project (WBS Chart Pro ‘s interface to Microsoft Project is completely seamless and bi-directional).
