“File not found” on Master page corruption…

We started to get this error on a specific site, the symptoms were:

1. I could see the site content through “Manage Content and Structure”

2. I could see the content appear on the site “Content Layout” web part

3. I could access the document in the site document library through different webparts

4. I could see and access the subsite[s] all the content of subsite[s]

So, basically the content existed on the SharePoint content database, but as soon as we clicked on links to access any of the site pages or content we got the error message “File not found”.

Apparently, after some joint investigation, we found that the master page on the site was corrupted (due to some reason) and changing the default master page through site setting resolved the issues…just here for future reference.
